Award-winning Choral Conductor
Tom Hammond-Davies MA (Oxon), MMus (RBC), HonFRBC is the Director of Music at Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, Dallas, Texas, and Founder of the Oxford Bach Soloists.
With a rich history dating back to 1945, Saint Michael’s is one of the largest Episcopal parishes in the United States, serving a congregation of approximately six-thousand parishioners in Dallas and beyond. Tom leads the rich music programme of traditional Anglican choral repertoire, and contemporary music, with both professional and volunteer musicians.
Tom founded the Oxford Bach Soloists (OBS) in 2017 with the mission of performing the complete works of J. S. Bach chronologically and programmed in real-time. Under Tom's leadership, the ensemble has been celebrated for its ‘immediate, enthralling unity and cohesiveness,’ capturing the hearts of both seasoned and new Bach enthusiasts. In 2024, the group released its debut album Bach Cantatas (Signum Records) to critical acclaim.
At the University of Oxford, Tom was the Director of Music at Wadham College, Mansfield College, and the City Church of St Michael at the North Gate. In all three positions, he developed and managed successful music programmes, directed their renowned choirs, and curated innovative artistic events, contributing significantly to the musical and cultural landscape.
A distinguished authority in choral conducting, Tom refined his craft under the mentorship of Paul Spicer at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and has gained global acclaim as one of the top choral conductors in the world. In 2025, he will be recognised by the Conservatoire with an Honorary Fellowship (HonFRBC).
Beyond OBS, Tom has appeared at the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, the Three Choirs Festival, and the Oxford International Song Festival. His other roles include serving as a Trustee of the Sir George Dyson Trust, Director of Music at the City Church of St Michael at the North Gate, Oxford, and as a faculty member for the Oxford Cultural Leaders programme.
